THE Swim THat will save you
Swimming tends to be a big hurdle for many triathletes and it's easy to understand why! Pools are hard to come by, they are expensive, and swimming laps feels so repetitive! While we know we can't do much to change the first two issues, The Tri Life does have a swim workout that is fun, challenging and quick!
It's simple and here are the steps!
The SET
- 500 - freestyle - EASY pace - 60 sec break
- 400 - freestyle - EASY pace - 60 sec break
- 300 - freestyle - MODERATE pace - 45 sec break
- 200 - freestyle - MODERATE pace - 30 sec break
- 100 - freestyle - FAST pace - 15 sec break
- 50 - freestyle - ALL OUT pace
- 100 - freestyle - COOL DOWN
All Done!
There you go! A simple and straight forward way to 1,650 total yards (meters) with descending splits! Your arms should feel pretty good after this workout, especially if you really pushed the final 100, 50, and didn't exceed those breaks! Plus you should be in and out in well under an hour! If you didn't get descending splits, no worries! You can keep at it until you do!
swim that will save you - InTermediate
If you are looking for more distance than the original swim set, look no further! It's the same concept, but will really push the distance covered.
Again, the key is to get the body moving in the water and not over doing it with the breaks. This swim workout will closely mimic a long distance race and if done frequently, help you get to the bike portion of the triathlon with ease.
Stay tuned for more workouts just like this one!
Happy training, get out there and crush it!
